My 2021 offering of Luther's 1545 Bible machine translated into English, the LED Bible, is my most popular upload to the Internet Archive. A correspondent expressed the wish that it be made available in print at that time in 2021. Since I am not proficient in doing that process, the publication has only been available so far in an electronic format (PDF). But now I have discovered that it is now available in a hardback "print-on-demand" version in 2 separate volumes (presumably due to it's size) on the Lulu website.
Here is the image of the front cover of Volume 1: =====>>>>>
On Lulu:
The publisher's handle, "Fathers of Lutheran Orthodoxy" tells us that they are Lutheran, which is nice to see. They have other Lutheran books available, a few of which are from Old Missouri, many are not in English. It appears they have been in business for less than 1 year.
The specifications say the format is "8-1/2 x 11", so it may well follow the PDF file exactly. If Lulu uses the same paper as common copy paper, each volume should be about the thickness of a ream of copy paper. The fact that it is in hardback will give it durability. At about $31 to $33 for each volume it is reasonable in price. I may purchase these myself since it would be handier in situations where I need a quick reference or comparison or to make marginal notes. I would probably put markers at the beginning of each book of the Bible, i.e. Genesis, Exodus, etc., for quick reference. — It is pleasant to see another party publish worthy books in print, like the one who published my series on Pieper's essay "C. F. W. Walther as Theologian" translated into English by Prof. Wallace McLaughlin.
I am not familiar with how Lulu handles international orders for those outside of the USA. Hopefully they have production facilities around the world to produce the "on demand" version for lower shipping costs. This would make a great gift for any Lutheran.
<<<<—— On the left is the LC-MS Reporter obituary picture for the Rev. Paul T. McCain, who is holding the old CPH Luther Bible (1545). Again, the above is the only English Bible that has Luther's translation of the pivotal passage Rom. 3:28 — "by faith alone". And, after all, it is
Luther's Bible, 1545 (LED).
